I didn't take pictures of Ocean Grove, a historic district of old Victorian-style houses built next to each other in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This is the next destination I have to explore more closely next time I visit this place that reminds me of Coney Island. My roommate and I with his two other friends were in Asbury Park during Memorial Weekend. It's a great place to discover and become familiar with Jersey Shore. Some pictures I took showing how the experience went about this side of New Jersey are described below----I noticed most people were a lot friendlier and more ready to talk casually even with strangers like myself.
The boardwalk at past 10pm after we had dinner at
Stella Marina (where we were the last customers who were given seats for tonight's dinner). I decided to take a walk after a heavy dinner (Italian-style made up of meatless lasagna, wine, freshly-baked bread, stuffed mushrooms) and see what's on the other side. There's this "Paramount Theatre" where I learned about scheduled events for the holidays.
Another shot of the boardwalk, which was getting empty that time. It somehow made me think of
Atlantic City and Coney Island, plus the
2.5 mile long South Beach-FDR boardwalk that we have in
Staten Island.
The tiny moon looking like a dot that's rising from the horizon on the seashore.
Shot taken by past 10am the next day, inside
Dorian's Restaurant, where we had breakfast buffet. The seashore looked so inviting!
Another shot from inside the restaurant.
Outside of the restaurant.
Myself, using my fone camera
Myself again!
I've thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast we had at this restaurant. A note on the sign says it's been around since the 1950s. Try not to miss this foodplace if you find yourself here in Asbury.
View of the boardwalk before getting into the rundown casino building, and another building where a carousel used to located (they're slowly rebuilding the whole place). These buildings were built on top of a river-like body of water that ends on this side of the Jersey Shore. When you pass by this rundown building, you'll have a view of another similar building on the other end of the boardwalk where you'd see "Paramount Theatre" which I mentioned somewhere in this posting.
Wonderful, bright looking garden banners available for sale from a store located on the boardwalk.
Another view of the boardwalk before noontime.
Details of the building where a carousel used to be located.
A profile of the building where a carousel used to be housed. I saw posters that say "stage shows" are held here nowadays, from time to time.
The disco ball that hangs on top of the pool of the
Empress Hotel where we stayed overnight. It was pretty crowded last night when everyone must have been here last night until wee hours of the evening.
