At the Midland Beach On a Terribly Hot Monday!

Ever thought of being at the beach on a day when it's in the higher 90s out there----I certainly did that and had much fun doing an outing on a weekday with
my friend. Nothing fancy, just a plain visit on the beach somewhere in Staten Island where I also live. Gratefully, the air was breezy, even when we were out and about at past 1pm. We didn't see that many people, mostly other sun-worshippers like ourselves. We saw some fellows who are enthusiastically fishing from one of the piers along Midland Beach. From the distance, we saw portions of the 2.5-mile South Beach-FDR Boardwalk that connects both South Beach (read my previous blog on this here) and Midland Beach, plus the ubiquitous Verrazano Narrows Bridge (that connects Staten Island to Brooklyn). There were also the two outlying islands that we identified as Hoffman Island, and Swinburne Island using the map, both of which turned out to be artificial islands. We brought with us some snack food and the much needed water. People went about walking past by us, some were also biking. We noted how parts of Midland Beach remain closed to swimmers because no lifeguards are posted in them.

Indeed, it was a slow, hot day that we decided to turn into something worth recalling one of these days.
