I happened to belong to a family where several relatives are doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical technicians. Actually, some close relatives even own several hospitals back in the Philippines. I almost took up Medicine after I finished my undergraduate degree but decided against it --- looking back, I certainly didn't make a bad decision. I would have made a good doctor if I was able to pursue Medicine but life throws each one of us with different sets of choices to make. Gratefully, I got the opportunity to write about this decision under this title Reasons not to study medicine which you may want to peruse and give some feedback on your thoughts. A good friend posted the article, too, in her Facebook account and several people took the time to 'like' it and to add in their thoughts as quoted here:
How true, (name deleted). Doctors invest a lot of time studying, (8 years undergraduate and graduate schools) + another 4 to 6 years of residency training and fellowship a total of 14 years! The hard works and lack of pleasure time put many in their graves earlier than the general population. The love for humanity and the desire to save people's lives are the only consolation price. That doctors make a lot of mullah is a myth.
I agree, Dr. (name deleted)! My son is, and still single at the age of 28. Started to go to play school at the age of 3 1/2 finished internship at the age of 24. one more yr. to get his consultancy and my oh my still burning his eyebrows. Wow, i guess being a doctor it takes so much love for the professions in order to be one.
Feedback? Please feel free to share them here.
